American pancakes are a big favorite here in the house, something we tend to bake every weekend for breakfast, sometimes we make it more often, especially when we want to be a little extra unhealthy
This is my way of making american pancakes. We love to have nutella and bananas over the pancakes, but you can also use other things like maple syrup and other berries.
I use about 20 minutes and you get about 12 pancakes on this recipe here, you can only double the recipe if you want more.
- 1 egg
- 5 deciliters/ 2,1 cup of milk
- 6 deciliters/ 2,5 cup of wheat flour
- 3 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar
- 1 teaspoon of cardamom
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 100 gram/3.5 oz of melted butter
Here’s what you do:
Whisk together 1 egg and sugar in a bowl.
Whisk in flour, baking powder, baking soda, cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla sugar, salt and finally milk until you have a smooth stir. Stir in the melted butter.
Heat a large frying pan and bring in some butter. Pour about 1/2 deciliter stir into the pan at a time and fry one and one pancake. Turn them gently when starting to solidify on the surface. The pancakes should be golden brown and airy.
Place the pancakes on a plate and keep them warm under a cloth until all is cooked.
